This article analyzes sayings about the movie Barbie (2023) in order to comprehend the displacements of meaning that cross these sentences, as well as the different subject-positions inscribed in them. The analysis is anchored in materialist Discourse Analysis and we argue that the meanings produced resonate with sayings circulating in the social imaginary and in different spheres of urban space linked to the opposition between feminism and patriarchy. From the way the statements under analysis are anchored in interdiscourse, we observe the functioning of conservative discursive formations that associate feminism with subversion of order and attacks on the family, in contrast with feminist discursive formations that reaffirm the struggle for rights, equity and resistance to structural sexism.
