The bvCLB is developed within a more ample research project entitled Relations of the Language Sciences in Eastern Europe and Brazil, having as its object the history of the sciences, analyzed from a comparative perspective. The objective is to study the paths and transformations that determined scientific notions - relative to grammar, norms, linguistic theories, the language itself - when circulating in these different regions, relating the history of this knowledge with the societies (Brazilian and European), in their differences and similarities.

The bvCLB is a technological instrument that, by its own format (which puts texts of different scientific traditions in relation through an articulated navigation), intends to sustain comparative research and, at the same time, make available to an ample public important and frequently little-known texts, difficult to be accessed, regarding the history of the constitution of the national language and of linguistic knowledge in Brazil.
